Terms of Reference: Short-form Video Expert (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)

Scope of the Assignment

RNW Media is currently creating a Short-Form Video course. The course will be offered to content creators who want to learn how to ideate, create, edit and publish videos on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. We are seeking a Short-Form Video Expert who can act as the subject-matter expert for the course. They will help select course topics and curate information, examples and case studies. The Short-Form Video Expert will work closely with the Learning Designer, by reviewing and providing feedback to the session plan and learning materials.

Short-Form Video Expert (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)

Starting from 18 November for a duration of 12 weeks.

Reports to: Learning Design Expert

Key Deliverables

By the deadline established by RNW Media, the Short-Form Video Expert is expected to
have delivered the following:

  • Deliverable 1: White paper expanding on the course outline. This deliverable requires research and curation of information based on agreements with the Learning Designer.
  • Deliverable 2: Document with examples and case studies with their respective analysis, as well as activities and assignments with their solutions. The list of examples, case studies, activities and assignments will be defined with the Learning Designer.
  • Deliverable 3: Feedback report providing concrete suggestions to improve the session plan.
  • Deliverable 4: Feedback report providing concrete suggestions to improve the revised session plan and learning materials.

The Short-Form Video Expert is expected to perform the following activities to successfully deliver the final product(s):

– Active participation in meetings with Learning Designer.
– Research and content curation related to course topics.
– Curation and analysis of examples and case studies.
– Elaboration of feedback reports, providing concrete suggestions to improve the course and materials.

Timeline

• Week 1: Kick-off meeting to identify the scope of the course, target audience, learning objectives and course outline (2 hours)
• Week 3: Deliver a white paper expanding on the course outline. This deliverable requires research and curation of information (8 hours)
• Week 4: Meeting to ideate appropriate examples, case studies, activities and assignments (2 hours)
• Week 6: Deliver a document with examples and case studies with their respective analysis, as well as activities and assignments with their solutions (8 hours)
• Week 8: The Learning Designer will elaborate a session plan for the course
• Week 9: Review the session plan and deliver a feedback report (2 hours)
• Week 9: Meeting to summarize the feedback and rethink directions (1 hour)
• Week 11: The Learning Designer will implement the changes and elaborate the PPTs and supporting materials
• Week 12: Review the final materials and elaborate a feedback report (2 hours)
• Week 12: Meeting to summarize the feedback, gather additional comments and end the collaboration (1 hour)

Requirements

– Demonstrable experience in short-form video creation (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, etc.);
– Expert knowledge and understanding of short-form video platforms and trends;
– Experience designing and/or delivering trainings related to (short-form) video
creation is desirable;
– Experience creating and publishing content in Global Majority countries or for Global
Majority audiences is an advantage;
– Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate detailed concepts
clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally;
– Written and oral fluency in English is essential.
