RNW Media’s sessions anchor the pleasure approach to sex education at the Women Deliver Conference in Vancouver, Canada, 3-6 June
Side Event: #PowerofPleasure
RNW Media presents the #PowerofPleasure series of inspirational talks on using pleasure to strengthen self-esteem and agency and claim power. This event will challenge participants to develop their own ideas for integrating a pleasure-positive approach in sexual and reproductive health and rights work. At the end a statement will be launched, calling on like-minded organisations to commit to a pleasure-positive approach. The evening talks takes place Tuesday, 4 June at 8:00-10:00 pm in rooms 217-219, Level 2.
Concurrent Programme Session: How Advertisers and Advocates are Dismantling Gender Stereotypes in Media
Co-hosted by RNW Media and Global Citizen, this session explores ways of challenging gender stereotypes and biases in advertising. Soul-searching in the marketing world on how to address gender is not new. Today’s fresh questions concern harnessing advertising for change. Gates Foundation’s ‘120 under 40’ award-winner and head of Love Matters India, Vithika Yadav, gets participants to find strategies that bring positive action and change. Join the session Tuesday, June 4 at 1:30-2:30 pm, rooms 301-305. Level 3.
Digital Poster: Is Game-Changing Advocacy for the Rights and Wellbeing of Lesbian Women and Girls Just around the Corner?
Terry Gachie, moderator with Love Matters Africa, presents the results of a study on young people’s knowledge and attitudes towards LGBT persons in Kenya and India. According to the findings a large majority of the close–to–3,300 respondents say they think LGBT persons have the same rights as anyone else. Could this mean a radically different approach to advocacy? Hear the story on Tuesday, 4 June at 10:30am-12:00pm in the Solutions Gallery.

RNW Media builds digital communities for social change. We dream of a world where young people in restrictive settings confidently claim their rights, assume their place in society, and shape a better future. We bring young people together through digital platforms—with websites, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other channels. Through our platforms they get comprehensive science- and rights-based information. They also have safe places where they can engage in constructive dialogue and focus on their aspirations.
RNW Media has a major networking space at the conference centre, number 1063, diagonally across from the Youth Zone and next to the food court.
