Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Our major donor is the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, providing amongst others funding for three of our major programmes: ‘Masarouna “Our Pathway”’ supporting young people’s SRHR in MENA, ‘Right Here Right Now 2 (RHRN2)’ improving SRHR across Africa and South-East Asia and ‘Women, Peace & Security in Yemen’ (WPS), advancing Yemeni women’s participation and influence in relief, recovery and peace processes.
Nuffic
Nuffic, the Dutch organisation for the integration of international experience in education, provides scholarships for professional journalists, citizen journalists, bloggers and vloggers to participate in our RNTC Media Training Centre courses.
Dutch Postcode Lottery
The Dutch Postcode Lottery awarded RNW Media a major grant to further develop our digital media interventions for young people, improve their digital literacy and digital agency and prevent online censorship. This grant builds upon the existing partnership between RNW Media and the Dutch Postcode Lottery, that was established in 2018, to invest in RNW Media’s work with the young digital generation living in restrictive settings.
Swedish Postcode Foundation
The Swedish Postcode Foundation have supported our work in developing digital civic spaces and capacity building of young change makers. In particular, they funded our project on our ‘Roadmap to building digital communities for social change’ in partnership with ForumCIV.
Global Affairs Canada
Global Affairs Canada is a key strategic partner for RNW Media having previously partnered with us together with MSI & IPPF for Covid emergency response funding. Now, Global Affairs Canada are funding the programme ‘Power to Choose’, which aims to improve access to sexual and reproductive health care for vulnerable and marginalized adolescent girls and young women. We are collaborating together with Oxfam Quebec and implementing in Lebanon, Bolivia and DRC to build inclusive digital spaces for young women to claim their SRHR rights.
UNESCO
The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, is an active strategic partner and collaborator amongst others for part of our work in Yemen. They are also a funder and supporter for a new global community of practice that we are launching for digital content creators to connect, learn and innovate together. We work closely together with their communication and information department.
United Nations Peacebuilding Fund
The UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) is the UN’s financial instrument of first resort to sustain peace in countries or situations at risk or affected by violent conflict. Together with UNESCO and Manasati30 in Yemen and supported by the Peacebuilding Fund, RNW Media implemented the project ‘Empowering Yemeni youth towards peace: Ensuring access to information and participation’ from 2020-2021.
OXFAM Novib
OXFAM Novib is working together with consortium partner RNW Media on the Masarouna “Our Pathway” programme. The programme mobilises the power of young people for collective action in MENA to support their fight for greater freedom of choice and respect for their SRHR through new and innovative pathways for change.
Rutgers
Rutgers, an international centre of expertise on SRHR, works with RNW Media in the Right Here Right Now 2 (RHRN2) consortium. Rutgers is the lead organisation in RHRN2 to support partners internationally to improve sexual and reproductive health and the acceptance of sexual rights and gender equality in the implementing countries.
Choice for Youth & Sexuality
CHOICE for Youth & Sexuality (CHOICE) is a youth-led organization striving to fulfil universal access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of young people worldwide. Together with CHOICE and other global partners, we are currently running the Right Here Right Now 2 (RHRN2) partnership funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 10 countries.
ForumCIV
ForumCIV is is a Swedish non-governmental member organisation working with people and people’s rights. We have a successful history of working with ForumCIV on our ‘Roadmap to building digital communities for social change’ – a project funded by the Swedish Postcode Foundation.
MSI Reproductive Choices (via Global Affairs Canada)
With funding from Global Affairs Canada – MSI, IPPF and RNW Media joined forces in 2020 and 2021, to collectively address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls. RNW Media increased access to SRHR information and services among women and young people by strengthening digital platforms in DRC, Kenya, Nigeria, and Yemen. RNTC also provided training to MSI and IPPF country office staff to improve digital engagement of young people on SRHR.
Care Nederland
CARE Nederland with RNW Media, implemented the ‘Every Voice Counts’ (EVC) programme in Burundi, Rwanda, Somalia and Sudan. RNTC provided training to increase the technical and media capacity of CARE’s programme, training and coaching teams on persuasive storytelling and tackling social norms through media campaigns and to enable the voices and views of women and youth to be heard by decision makers.
AmplifyChange
AmplifyChange funded our LGBT and SRHR programme, ‘Rights, evidence, action – amplifying youth voices’ (REA). The Love Matters programme previously implemented REA in India, Kenya and Uganda in partnership with CHOICE for Youth & Sexuality. REA was implemented in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Oxfam Quebec
Currently working together with Oxfam Quebec under the Power to Choose/Pouvior Choisir project. Together, we aim to improve access to sexual and reproductive health care for vulnerable and marginalized adolescent girls and young women – benefitting over 90,000 adolescent girls and young women. This project works in partnership with RNW Media, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), and numerous local women’s rights groups and youth organisations.
